A carpet is a textile floor covering typically consisting of an upper layer of pile attached to a backing. The pile was traditionally made from wool, but nowadays synthetic fibers such as polypropylene, nylon or polyester are often used, as these fibers are less expensive than wool. The "carpet" is often used to a floor covering that covers an entire house but it has many other appliances.

Each city of Iran has its own carpet which can be distinguished by its motifs and materials. Qom is famous for its silk carpets. Tabriz has a special design which full all part of the background and many othe cities.
